I have very heavy duty rear OME 763's on my 97 Disco 1 and want to install a spring packer on top. I've followed the instructions listed in the Tech section regarding removal of the springs but I could not get the axle housing low enough to free the spring without stretching the brake flex line. Has anyone a better idea? Would it make sense to have the rear on jack stands and put a bottle jack under on hub and with the floor jack under the other hub simulate articulation? Maybe I could get a bit more room without tearing the flex line? I just had the brakes bled so i don't want to foul that up by disconnecting the flex hose to allow maximum space to free the spring.

I have some pretty sorry spring compressors the local NAPA loaned me.

Thanks

Did you take your rear sway bar off?

ISP went down Saturday and I haven't been able to access the web 'til now. Saturday morning I "un-did" the brake line fastener to the rear diff, and put the spring compressors on while the springs were compressed (jack under diff) then dropped the axle (jack stands under frame). No problem, Whole deal took less than 45 minutes.

The winner was to undo the brake line coupler at the diff. Gave me an extra 5 inches of downward travel.

Oh, I don't have sway bars.
