Hello all,
I haven't posted here since just after buying my '99 Disco II a little a little over 3 months ago. Just wanted to check back in and report that all is well with the truck. I love driving it!! And I can barely keep my fiance' from getting behind the wheel...she's starting to talk about getting one "someday". I haven't taken it offroad properly yet, as I live in downtown Chicago. But in 2 months I am moving to Idaho and plan to put her through the ringer.

So far the only complaints I have are the windshield being too short to see stoplights, and the back latch has to be pried back after opening the rear gate....probably just needs to be lubed. Other than those 2 small details this truck is a dream come true. Long trips are a breeze, and even enjoyable. Cargo space is immense, and the Yakima rack on top works like a charm (bikes and space booster box). Next spring I'll be hauling touring kayaks on top of it. The interior took some getting used to, but I automatically reach for the right buttons when I need them now. I think I can safely say that I am a true LR fan now....and I suspect I will love my Disco even more after 4x4-ing it a bit.

To close, I would really like to thank all of you who helped me with my research (6 months of it) on why I should buy a LR Disco. If anyone reads this who is thinking of buying a Disco, just take your time. There are things about this truck that will drive some people crazy....as with anything, you've got to accept the bad with the good. But there is definitely more good than bad. To show my support and thanks I am on my way to the sticker purchase page...Thanks Discoweb.org!!

I've got my 99 Disco II for almost two years. I used to drive it everyday to commute but now I don't need to (I can't because I can't park all day in SF downtown). I still strongly feel I can't wait to drive it on weekend. it's such a pleasure.

Congrats, Bill. After 14 mos and 20K miles, I still chime in w/ "I'll drive dear" whenever we need to go somewhere. Can't drive it enough.

Welcome to the club Bill!

My other car is a Lexus LS400, and now that my wife is not working, I have the choice every day of this or the disco2. Guess which one I have taken every day in the last 3 months?

But the wife likes the lex, so I have to drive it on the weekends sometimes :-(

Congrats Bill. I have had my disco II about 2 months but it's been flawless. Some of the surprising things about LR ownership to me are: People seem surprised that I (longtime car enthusiast) bought a disco. They ask if I have had problems and seem amazed when I report "flawless". Many people seem as if this vehicle wasn't on their radar screens when they were looking for an SUV. And finally, people seem amazed when I show it to them and they see what a combination of quality build, quality materials, unique design, etc.,that makes the disco such a wonderful vehicle...

10 months and 11k on our '97 Disco and like most of you we don't tire of it. I just did my first project with it and installed the rear jump seats.

My wife does have two issue:
1- You have to give the gas guy your key, we live in Oregon and self serve gas doesn't exist here (After typing that it sounds lazzzyyy)
2- I need to get a CD changer in the car.

I love it, and more importantly my wife loves it.

I appreciate this sight and the insights it provides. I haven't had any problems, but I feel that reading this sight will prevent some.

David
