Sorry for the newbie questions but after looking over the manual I have a couple of silly questions (better to ask than stay in the dark).
1) The 2000 DII manual says to use Texaco Cold Climate PAS fluid 14315 GM part # 12345866, 12345867(amber color). Could'nt find it at the auto parts stores. What other brand is safe to use?
2) Antifreeze... it says to use O.A.T. based coolant. Saw one that listed it contained no phosphates, silicates, etc but it did not reference O.A.T . What brand can I use and not damage the cooling system?
3) Is the black switch (not the reset switch by the bulkhead)in the engine bay, left side, front part of the alarm system?
4) In 2 DIIs I did'nt see any underhood (or should I say bonnet) light is this a LR thing?

3) Is it switch located right on the lip, at about the mid-point? Yes, that's the hood-switch for the alarm system.

4) My '99 SD (Disco I) doesn't have an underbonnet light, either.

2) Couldn't rattle of a list of okay ones off the top of my head, but look for an antifreeze that's safe for aluminum engines... I 'think' Dexcool is, but double-check... you're on the right track...

1) I would think that any quality fluid 'should' be okay... you don't live in Alaska, do you?

Hope that helps,

-L
