I now know that the ARB locker is unreliable. I was wondering if this would help:

Ryan,

I'm using something similar to this and not nearly as expensive. I bought mine from Peterbilt truck part store. They look smaller and cost around $12/ea. In any case I think these switches are better solution than the electric solenoid valves, IMHO.

Help, sure, though you will still have the issues of possible line leaks, or breaks, internal seal links, and possible compressor failure (Substitute a decent volume air tank pressurized before heading out if you would like to minimize this)....

ARB's are also prone to a leaking inner seal that allows gear oil to be forced back through the airline, and back out the bottom of the original supplied air solenoids creating a smelly ugly mess were your compressor is mounted. I would imagine this would hold true for the manual switches as well....

The manual switches have a bleed hole. When the switch is in the "off" position, remaining air will escape out of the line between the locker and the switch. That's why the GCR's switch has a brass filter looking thing. If the oil was to get out of the locker then it'd bleed out of this hole. Since the switch is far away from the air comp, you'll know if the "O" ring is leaking at the carrier.

I don't hear about this leaking condition very often. If the "O" rings were damaged in ANY way during installation then there's a chance this may take place over time.
