OK, say I heard this occasional little grunt and very slight vibration, it didn't happen often. It sounds just like when my brakes, about 4-5 months
ago, began to rub on the right front wheel. The problem was that one piston on each side of the front caliper decided not to move any more and I got wedge shaped brake pads. I fixed it while camping by forcing them out and cleaning and lubing the calipers and pistons. So, I ignore the sound for a little while because I know what it is and it is not a big deal, I'll need to rebuild the calipers, but there is no damage happening.

Well the sound gets a little worse but still no worse then last time. I pulled the right front wheel last night and to my surprise the brake pads are not wedge shaped. With the pads out and nothing to restrict the rotor, I give it a turn and the noise is still there, and there is a
significant amount of play in the hub. I pull the drive flange, and notice an inordinate amount of really thick black grease all around the hub nuts.
The rotor is very difficult to turn and is making a lot of popping and grinding noise when turning. What have I done?

Thanks,

-josh
