I just got back from my local Discount tire. They mounted and balanced my AR steel wheels(16x7) on my non-lifted(but soon to be)Disco1. It looks great, but I noticed that the right rear tire is wobbling. All the other tires are pretty stable. I think it has something to do with the pressure of the bolts. Is that it, or is it something else??

that would be my guess too. look how many weights they put on that wheel!! maybe the wheel was dropped and bent.

that's a frickin' HUGE weight for new rims ! Sounds like the didn't balance it, or the tire is out of round.

MA, you telling me that too much pressure can make the wheels deform?
i've seen that happen with thinner wheels, and wanted to know if that's the case with the AR wheels. are they that thin?

i dont' see any discoweb decal anywhere on there....

I was thinking the same thing, why are there so many weights on that wheel. I will go to my Discount Tire tomorrow and ask about it. The mud-flap fell off while doing some hill-climbing a couple of months ago(to lazy to put it back on.) Ho, I have 3 D-web stickers on my Disco. One on the front bumper, one on the back-door beside the DISCOVERY emblem and one on my center console. As for my Disco being clean...I WISH!!! It always looks clean in pictures for some reason. Last I counted, the right side of my Disco had 35 sratches on it and 3 dents. If you are paying really close attention, you will notice that my right rear tie-down thing(sorry, don't know the proper name) is bent pretty badly. This is from pulling an ATV out of quicksand.

You might want to go back to the tire shop and ask them to remount the tires. Alot of the balance problem could be from the tire. Have them take them rotate the tire 180 degrees. This will somtimes help reduce the amount of weight that it takes to balance the tire. On a tire like you have,they shouldn't have to use more than 4oz of wait and that is on the high side.

It looks great with the AR rims...I am in the process of choosing steel rims and AR is one of mi choices. I have to agree with the rest, it seems there are too many weights on that wheel. Are the lug nuts tight?

Just got back from Discount Tire. They said that the right rear wheel is bent slightly in the inner lip. I'm assuming that the wheel came bent(either from shipping or straight out of the factory) because I overlooked everything they did. The extra weight they put on it had something to do with the tire. The left rear wheel also has the same amount of weights. Arog, I don't know yet. When the $$$ comes, I will start re-searching. Thinking about the normal 2" with 245/75-16 GY Wrangler MT/R tires. The next thing planned for my Disco(before the lift) is a DL in the back to replace the TT.

More of an experimental thing really. I love my True Trac, but the thought of more traction is always good. Eventually I will get into rock-crawling, and from what I hear, a TT ain't gonna' cut it. Also the thought of it being LSD doen't please me. Although it is probably the most powerful LSD out there. Even the best LSD will never keep up with a locker. I ran dual TT's for about 2 months, but I only got to go hard-core once(actually twice, had to recover a LC.) You can feel its presence, but it's not anything negative. It's just a little stiffer when you steer.

Those AR wheels look great, and I'm getting ready to buy a set, but before I do, I'm just curious if the tires rub the wheel arch when it stuffs-up in there? Or have you had a chance to check it out yet? I know the AR wheels stick-out about an inch farther than LR wheels, but I can't judge if it'll make a difference or not. From your pic, and looking at my truck, it looks like there's probably plenty of space...

Jon, I haven't had the chance to fully flex my Disco. My guess is that they will barely fit. I will do some ramping this weekend to confirm my predictions.

I called GCR last friday and they sent me a new wheel today. They have great customer service!

The Power loc is the most postive LS on the market. The TT is in the middle.

I had dual power locks in my scout. To be honest a rover TT is about equal in my opinion, if not a tad superior. I have never driven any other TTs but as I understand it the TT in a rover is set up with a higher preload which makes it more effective.
