...for building such a quality vehicle. This morning driving across campus another kid rolls up behind me while I'm sitting at a stop sign. He gives me a good smack and I get out ready to start yelling about the damage, but I look and there isn't a scratch. Needless to say his old Honda CRX got itself about $500 worth of damage....Thank you Land Rover!

If a kid in a CRX couldn't see a big Rover in front of him, he doesn't need you yelling at him. He has bigger problems to worry about.;)

My sister-in-law backed right into our truck several years ago and we were right behind her in the driveway! (she's a blonde! ;D) In her defense, she was also very young at the time, but geeze, how can you not see that a truck is parked behind you as you're getting into your car in the driveway! KIDS!

Yesterday I was sitting at a traffic light and some High school girl whipped around me and scaped my rear drivers side bumper end cap. Well she made a run for it but I got her after she knew she was not getting away. I got out and looked at my bumper. I only had scuff marks on my bumper But her front 1/4 panel and 1/2 her door had a nice dent the whole way hehehe. She said she ran because she was late for school.Boo Hoo
I'm glad I had no damage but knowing the cost of parts. As I chased her I was thinking maybe I can get a new HD bumper. Oh well.

try driving around town until you see a nice jag, mercedes, or porsche. get in front of em and slam on the brakes. then start screaming "my neck, my neck"

Discos seem to fare pretty well in fender benders that destroy other cars.

A fellow made a right turn across the front of my 95 D1, my endcap along the passenger's side of his car. While my endcap was scuffed and the amber lamp cracked, this was the full extent of the damage. His Ford Crown Vic had a gaping gash from his front right indicator to the middle of the rear passenger door - there is a substantial piece of metal hiding behind that innocuous-looking endcap after all!

He was not insured, and the incident cost me less than the deductible would have (<$250).

I've since upgraded to a non-airbag ARB, and everyone seems to steer clear of me now.

I hit a olds achiva in the back with my old disco. He slammed on his brakes hard to try to get into a non turn lane and blam the wet/icy surface just didn't hold. Totaled his car 3000+ in damages and just knocked off my front license plate. Put his rear bumper in his back seat basically. Luckily a cop was next to me and saw the whole thing and I didn't get the blame.

A friend of mine is a volunteer fire fighter for the local fire dept. in La Grange, (Small Town, USA). He told me about a call that he went on with a 1996 Disco that had flipped over on a crappy highway. I went to see it at the junk yard, and the low amount of damage was VERY impressive. the front was bashed up a bit, but not bad enough to call out the airbags, and the top corner of the roof, just above the driver seat was bashed in a little, but I sat in the truck to see if I would have got hurt, and if I had the seat belt on (I always do) I would have been fine.

The wreck happened at night with a 17 or 18 year old girl driving, her mother in the passeenger seat, and her 7 year old brother in the back seat. The driver had her neck hurt a little, but everyone else was fine. The reason that her neck hurt was a result of sitting TOO CLOSE to the steering wheel (typical of females).

I love my Rover and if I flip it I will CRY, but chances are, I will live to tell about it!!!

Oh, yea. Most impressive was in the flipped Disco, neither of the sunroofs glass broke!:)

I bet they still rattled though :(

Turner, is that La Grange, WA, by any chance? Yes that is small town if that's what you're talking about.

Nope, La Grange, Texas. ZZ Top has a song about it and the movie with Dolly Parton called "The Best Little Whore House In Texas" about an old chicken ranch whore house.

Great place, but I have one of about 4 Rovers there. Of course mine is the coolest, right?

Ah, I love these "love my truck" stories!

While on my way to work, and on the crowded 405 freeway (in LA), this lady in a Nissan Pathfinder rammed into me at about 20 mph. I had my bike rack on the tow hitch and it got about 1/4 inch scratch on it. But her front bumper was mashed 5-6 inches and she damaged her hood as well.

Had I not had the bike rack on, I probably would have suffered some damage as well.

Now, I try not to take it off :) I figure it can absorb some of the impact while causing significant damage to the person who dares to get too close.
