I am slowly working on a stereo upgrade throughout my '97 Disco. It occured to me that I have a ton of very accesible room in my attic between the headliner and the roof. Of course it does not leak now, but should I ever have to worry about water leaks that could short the wires?

There will be a lot of wires cause I am going with a DVD in dash from Pioneer, and another 8" screen for the rear passengers, as well as new speakers throughout, and a kicker 12" sub in the rear. I am engineering a custom fit box or the sub, and will put it on the tech page when its complete!

Any marine store will have proper wires for you to use. Basically tinned copper wire with a moiusture resistant jacket. Be certain to use heat shrink at every junction and connector, and leave a drip loop before you make your connection (put a loop or a "horseshoe" lower than the actual connection you make vertically) so that any moisture will drip off the wire before it travels uphill to the connection. Examine any good boat to see how this is done. You probably want to use dielectric grease on each connection to make certain that moisture doesn't find its way into the connection and cause problems.

Good luck

To add to that note... West Marine has a great selection of marine grade wire and other electrical stuff. They also have alot of stainless steel hardware. I use them all the time. I like the quality of their wire particularly.
