Does premium help prolong the engine life?? Will regular hurt the engine?? What about every other tank?
Thanks

I figure for the few extra dollars I'll stick with the premium and every so often i'll dump in a bottle of the valve cleaner. But then I am the type of guy that spends the little extra on "name brand" groceries...foil, chicken, beer, shit like that.

Go ahead and use the cheap stuff if you want to. Just don't come crying to us when you are faced with a $2000.00 valve job.

What about adding octane booster on 87s? Would it hurt the engine if octane boosters is added on premium gas?

I remember reading my owner's manual and it recommends a minimum octane rating. I tried putting 87 once because gas was over $2 per gallon. It knocked so bad any time I accelerated, that I decided it was not worth it.
Now, I just go to to a local Shell which seems to have the lowest price and the best acceleration, at 91 octane

I use mid-grade amoco (silver) and it drives fine. Sometimes I treat it to the premium if its close in price.

Talking of fuel, anyone in the UK found differences with diesel from different garages?
I normally fill up at Sainsbury's, but I know some people find poor performance.

Horness.

I use regular and have NO problems with knocking and such. I just don't think it makes that big of a difference in what is basically a low performance American V8. Compression ratio is not that high and if you drive it, not lug it, carbon build-up on the valves is not a problem. Low octane does not cause carbon, incomplete burning does.

I put premium in yesterday before offroading. I think they put regular instead of
premium, my valves didnt like that fill up.
