I really want an increased approach angle on my Disco1. I have already trimmed the spoiler off, but I have the factory brush bar on. Whenever I hit something steep, the brush-bar takes the beating instead of my steering skidplate. Is it possible to trim the 2 bottom bars(that mount onto the frame) off and weld the brush-bar onto the metal beam of the bumper? Or is the grocery-cart pusher too heavy for the bumper mounts to handle?

The front bumper could hold it But if you hit something you could really screw up your bumper(twist, bend, ect)they are not that strong(bumpers). I think the brush gard only ways around 20lbs.

the best bet is get a non-srs arb bumber. the non-whinch models are cut taller under the chin. the front pic of roverconnection.com shows this.

you'll have a sturdy place to mount recovery rings, be protected in case of animal strike, and they look cool especially when painted body colour.

is the non-srs version ok to use with airbags?

srs = Supplemental Restraint System = airbags

Not designed for, but some use them anyway.... it's your truck, your call.

The non-air bag bumper does not prevent the air bags from deploying. The air bag deploys based on a number of sensors located at various locations in the vehicle. No air-bag sensors are connected to the bumpers in any way.

Air-Bag bumper is meant to provide some additional crush area to prevent the air bags from deploying too SOON. Yes, the non-air bag bumper will probably deploy the air bags a little sooner than an air-bag bumper. Wierd but true!

I like the way the non-air bag ARB bumper mounts much better than the Air bag one. The air bag one tends to rotate under use and screws up the fenders and possible the hood. Not good.

Thanks,
Mike B.
