Does anybody know the gear ratio of high range on the transfer case of a '95 Disco? The '95 D90's high range ratio was 1.21:1, as far as I know. Is it the same transfer case as used on the Discos of the same year? I would think so, but I haven't been able to find it written anywhere. I'd like to know because I was figuring my speedometer error the other day based on my high range ratio being 1.21, and my speedo indicates consistently 7 mph fast (which doesn't surprise me, given the amount of Lucas electrics on that truck) Anyway, if anybody knows what that high range ratio is, let me know (since I'd rather figure myself how fast I'm really going instead of having the police "calibrate" my speedo for me, if you know what I mean). By the way, I run the standard 235/70HR16 tires on it, with no drivetrain mods.
Thank you!

Jon,
I believe everything you stated was correct.
Of course the spedo error will change as a ratio of speed and not just a fixed offset.
Just get some bigger tires and your spedo will be right on!

Yeah, I would've thought that, too. But I've checked my indicated speed compared to my calculated speed every 250 rpm (in OD lock-up, of course), and it's consistently 7 mph fast. But now I know I was figuring the right ratio, so thanks. Funny you should mention the tires, though. I recalculated my speed based on running 265/75R16 tires, like the D90 would've, and that actually gave me the extra 7 mph that would make my speedo dead-on. But it might be something wrong with my speedo drive motor, since the odometer is very accurate. Usually if the speedo's off, so is the odometer. Not in my case. But I'm not gonna worry to death about it, it's all relative anyway LOL Thanks for responding.

Get taller tires, and it'll register less mileage than actually travelled. Extend the warranty that way.
GPS would be a good way to get the real speed.

In my case - switching to 245/75/16 put my speedo dead on with my GPS.
