Recently it sometimes requires me to push the accelerator a little to get my '95 Disco started first thing in the morning. I remember a long time ago on Discoweb somebody else was experiencing a similar occurence, but I was unable to find any results in a search. Does anybody know what may cause this? Could the cold-start valve be to blame? Also, what should I get as a normal fuel line pressure when i test it? I suspect it's because the wife made me advertise my truck in the "for sale" section and now it doesn't want to be sold. That's okay; I'm keeping it. Now I just need to figure out how to solve this problem, and any suggestions appreciated. By the way, it runs fine after the first start and subsequently starts fine. Thanks!

Manual says 2.39 to 2.672 kg per sq cm. I measured 32 - 34 psi on the road on my 95; 38 psi accelerating hard, 27 - 28 psi decelerating. Don't know about your cold start problem; good luck.

Fuel pressure's good. Starter's good. Connections to the coil are good. Wires and plugs are good, distributor rotor/cap, etc.; all good and fairly new. Timing is correct. Compression is good. Fuel pump is okay and fuel filter is fairly new. It still doesn't want to start without pressing the accelerator, then it barely fires over after that, hot start or cold start. I guess now it's time to start picking through sensors....

Might be a stupid question but. Battery good? I thought mine was good when I had problems starting and replaced it and my Disco fired right up.

Your coolant temp sender may not be working. The ECU can't tell the engine is cold.

Good thought;doesn't the fuel temp sensor also provide cold/hot start info to the ECU?

JEC

Couldn't tell ya with out looking at the ECU mapping. MY POS Haynes manual is not much of a help! Most times it is used to fine tune the mixture

Thanks for the replies. The fuel temp sensor was my first suspect sensor, but I won't get to check 'till this weekend. Oh, and my battery is good, too. Forgot to mention I had made sure it wasn't the problem. I'll let you know what I find.
