One of the front frame to body mounts is cracked on my 2000 Disco II at 28K miles. Check yours, or have the dealer check it if it is still under warranty. Even if you don't see it have a professional inspect it- mine was hard to see.

This is the mounting point you can see at about 2 o'clock when you look in the front wheel well, and the crack starts at the bolt hole and moves outward. Of course if this fails it will CRUSH and pinch my brake lines. DLR advises is out of warranty because vehicle is 'heavily' modified- front bumper, EMU lift/shocks, skid plates, and 245/75/16's.

The FRAME is out of warranty. Oh, that is rich......

Since when is underbody protection, heavy duty suspension, and smaller tires "heavily modified"? You sure you're running 245/75/16 on a DII?

Who's the dealer? Give 'em hell.

WOW, that sux.
Im about to order all that stuff and put it on my DiscoII.
It sounds like the LR dealer is your typical FORD
dealer.
Let me know how it turns out.
GOOD LUCK

245/75/16 are actually a total of one inch taller, but not as wide as the stock tires.

The 'heavy' mods were all completed since May, and I have not done anything more difficult off-road than shown on the 'Using Your LR Off-Road' video that came with it when I bought it NEW 18 months ago....

PS: Don't miss my point- check your frame carefully I beleive this is an inherent design flaw.

Also on the Disco I, the body cracks where it mounts to the frame behind the footwell with light and moderate off-roading. I guess I missed these features listed in the color brochure.

Left side, close to the tubes, wires, and pipes that run to the front axle. This is the mount that is about 2" wide and 6" tall.

I've heard from a Disco I owner that their body to cracked in the same area, but not the frame. They learned about the cracks when the body collapesd onto brake lines, and the brakes failed.

What "Using your LR Off-Road" video?
something come with your new Disco?
I bought my Disco II new in June and all I have was the User manual type of video?

Should I ask LR or Dealer for it? Sounds like a fun video to watch.

Two weeks after dlr/LRNA rep inspection- and no response on how this will be resolved. Aftermarket parts suppliers have all been amazingly helpful in supporting this; and are all amazed that LRNA is blaming their equipment

Video came with new vehicle. Have seen on auction sites- people stripping their lease returns? OK on technique, paper manual is just as good, probably most helpful part was on using the traction control effectively.

If you want to see Disco's off road, check out the DiscoWeb Moab 2001 video....

(Yeah, that was blatant advertising... :))

LR has OK'd the repair. Now we're waiting for repair instructions from the factory. It has been six weeks. See http://www.camel-discovery.com for pictures of what a failed body looks like and CHECK YOURS!
