Is anybody here familiar with or have experience with factory match after market dash kits. I see them an awful lot a ebay and wonder just how good thay are! Do they match/do they peel up/do they look cheap/??? etc....

Last month, I test drove a 1998 LSE with an aftermarket wood kit. It looked very nice, with the exception of the piece that they put on the upper dash windscreen vent (directly below the windshield). It peeled up and the wood veneer separated from the clear protective layer and adhesive backing, apparently from sun exposure. Otherwise, it looked very nice. A better match to the factory installed wood trim than the automatic shift knob.

I purchased a kit from edashkit.com (went through ebay). It is the medium burlwood. I'm very satisfied with the look. I think it's the same stuff you see in AB for $600. got it for just over $100.

One problem —— no adjustment holes for clock. I should have drilled some holes, now I'm permanently on standard time. It'll be accurate in a few months I guess.

Contact torasport.com, I got an aluminum dash kit from him for cheap. I like it better than wood, my disco is always dirty anyway, I think wood grain belongs in the Rangie.

hey

thanks guys! i saw the blurb for dash kits and i had to jump in. matt- i can do almost anything you want for your car. will have custom shifter plates soon. factory match woods, carbon fiber not a problem.

i can walk you thru how to remove the factory wood (easy as pie)
i just am about to install a black birdseye maple on mine as there is subtle hint of green to match the epsom on the exterior.

Yo Steve.....someone on another thread asked a while back if you had a web site. Maybe you missed it when you were lost in cyber space. What's the URL?

Is there a price, or this is one of those things that if you have to ask, you can't afford it?
