I own a 95 Disco with a 2" lift and I am in the market for some new tires. I already have some American Racing 15x8 wheels(from Gulf Coast Rovers), but I don't know which tire size to run on it. I really don't want to trim to much, but some is fine. I was thinking about 31x10.5-15, but I think that they would be too small. I really want to run some Wrangler MTRs' on it. Nothing too aggressive please.

You'll have to trim with 31s and a whole lot more with 32s.
BTW, MTRs are the probably the most aggressive tire you can buy this side of a swamper.

Is 31x10.5 too wide for the AR wheels, will the Disco turn a lot wider. Also, should I change my gearing?

The 10.50 will be fine on a 7" or 8" rim. I'm not sure about the truning radius but it will decrease for sure. Same goes for the gearing (too personal) but again some power loss will be noticeable for sure. How much these matter, is for you to decide.

I don't know if I agree on the turning radius getting smaller. The rims have a much greater offset, and the 31x10.5 should be fine w/out changing the bump stops and the turning radius should improve. If you were on stock rims then you might loose some.

As far as them being too small, I wouldn't go much bigger with the 2 inch lift or you will have to loose more sheetmetal than you may like.

By the way, I agree that 10.5 fits nicely on a 15x8, my friend hast this setup.

Is running 31x10.5-15 similar to running 265/75-16? Would you lose about the same power?

Any time you go wider than stock (where the center line of the tires are more outboard than stock), your turning radius decreases regardless of whether you need to adjust steering stops or not. Given Disco's crappy turning radius to begin with I would want to run something that does not force me to turn the steering stops. With wider tires that usally means more positive offset rims (less backspacing), thus worse radius. I thought the AR wheels were such rims (with less backspacing than stock).

With the 31x10.5 tires, will the disco flex to it's limits, or do I have to replace the bumpstops? Would I have to replace the driveshafts( I have a 2" Rovertym lift)?

Tom...does your friend's Disco(with the 31x10.5) articulate to the suspensions limit, or is it restricted due to the width of the tire? Do the tires rub against the body of the car?

Driveshafts will not be effected by bigger tires only more lift.
