Any tricks?

I wish to take all three out at once (T-case, tranny and engine).

How long will it take? I am guessing the rad panel has to go too to pull the thing out. Anyone have a checklist or something beyond what is in the manual? Anyone else do this?

Ron

PS no the disco is not dead. I have found one with a blown engine and want to swap in a new drive train. ECR has said no go for a long time so looks like I might have to take time off work and DIY :)

So you are doing a complete swap? T case and all? I would take the T case off as it would make it a bit easier to handle. Then just take the disco hood off for access and remove all the good shit. Remove the rad , and everything connecting the accessories to the truck. Both Drive shafts. Shifting linkage , unbolt the Y pipe and remove the trans crossmember. Drop me a line if you have any issue....I may be available to fight the batard with you..

I was just taking the T-case out for convience, it will be reused, is it fairly obvious how to seperate it from the tranny?

I am on looking for a used disco 300TDi out of a disco now. If I can't find one I will just drop in a new 4.0 block I guess, but I have already had offers on the ZF.

Ashcroft is out of rebuilt 300TDi ZFs (hence 5 speed swap question) which really bites, have to find an auto used too which will be a problem.

Might end up having to give the truck to TMS or someone to do after I get everything out. ECR has already said they don't have time to get it in soon.

I will be sure to drop you a line if I have any issues. I have a feeling I am going to need all the swearing I can muster for this one.

With the case on back there it will just make it a little heavy in the ass and a little harder to handle. If you want to take it off its no biggie and is stright forward. Drain the trans fluid before starting all this along with the oil in the engine. Just reduces the cursing factor a little. I estimate I could have it sitting on the shop floor in about 2 hours. I can also deliver soe mighty fine cursing via the telephone if its needed. Just hold the phone close to the truck. :)

Where?

I saw a blue 95 cheap but it had a fire so would have been much tough to fix.

I was getting this for 4k and it was perfect save the engine. Plus lots of goodies I could have sold off (deep dish alloys, rear seats, the tranny :) )

Ron

Wanted: disco with blown engine :)
