While at SOLAROS this weekend I broke off the harmonic balancer (the little disc thing by the front diff area) while going over some rocks.
Is this part really important? I dont notice anything different about the way my truck rides.
Should I spend the money on a new one Or will the truck be ok without it?

Thanks
Rico

By the way, SAE was great. the trails were challenging and added a whole new level of off road driving excitement to my expiriences.
Great event.

adds weight to the truck and the price tag and takes away from ground clearance :)

actually, it's supposed to eliminate driveline resonance or some such mumbo jumbo

If you want to put it back on (for engineering's sake), you probably won't actually need to replace the whole thing. If you just sheared the rubber piece that holds the weight to the mount, the rubber piece is just an engine mount. LR designed it to fall off--that's why it's tethered!

you can throw it also, I have seen some good "discus" type throws with it at highway speeds.
Makes a good weapon, in theory

Tate,
The rubber piece is what sheared off. I might try to find a new/used mount to fix it with.If the price is unresonable then I will just leave it off. I will also have to make a new cable. I just cut it off because I had trails to get to.
Thanks for the input.
If anyone knows were to find the rubber mount, besides the dealer, please let me know. I dont think I actually need to replace it, but I'm more interested to see I can tell a difference by taking it on and off with driving it between changes.

Thanks
Rico

Throw it away. Mine came off in Colordo while driving to another trail. Slowed up our progress getting there. Can't ell any difference in the ride. I was at SAE as well. Nice time.
