Is the dog guard usefull, to say keep stuff loaded and stacked in the back secure?

the mesh one is, the bar type is not as good for keeping back smaller objects but big stuff it holds fine. i think for the DII (which i believe you have) they only make the bar type. could be way off though, but ive never seen a DII mesh guard.

The dog guard is great for camping. You can use bungee cords to hold everything in place. You can stack stuff all the way to the ceiling!

Also keeps big stuff from falling and hitting the little ones on the head.

How does it mount? I do have a D2 and the safety devices rack is out of my league right now so just trying to utilize as much internal space as possible, going to order two pelican case for organizing cargo area. Thanks, Matt

On a Disco 1 (I assume the D2 is the same), the dog guard mounts using two small square tubular bars that fasten just behind the seat latches for the rear seats. It's a little tough to install, but after installation, it comes out easily with no tools. You can also keep your cargo cover in place with it mounted.
