Anybody try to use an MP3 player via one of those cassette conversions pieces? Disco 2000

Ya, I use my Rio with my stock head unit on a 1998 Disco 1 . (I am waiting for some of the new head units that play mp3's to come down.)
I went to radio shack and bought a tape adapter for about 8 - 12 dollars, poped it in, and now Ia am golden.
So far I have had no problem with the tape deck, but I am sure it is not great for it.

I use my Sony Network Mp3 walkman with my stock head unit also, although quality through the adapter is not that great.

Hey Mike,
That's what I needed to know - What is your model year.
I had the same thing happen in another truck I used to own. It seems that some cassette players don't like the adapter unit-I don't know why.
I haven't tested mine out yet because i can't find my old converted/hence my reason for asking here before I go out and buy a mp3 player.
Anyone else have similar experiences?

This problem is less related to the head unit and more related to the adapter. If the adapter doesn't spin well, the tape deck will sense the resistance and think it is the end of the tape and switch sides. I don't use one, but some others here have.
So those of you who currently employ the use a cassette adapter, list the type (brand, model or part number) of adapter and the year of your disco (if still stock stereo) and that could help.
Also in reference to the post by badams, I have heard of no negative effects from using an adapter.
