Since everybody is posting pix lately, I thought I'd add this one to the pile. This is the front end of my Disco after driving through a hay field a while back. In fact, by the time I took this picture, most of the little slimy things had already fallen off. Getting these little guys out of the engine compartment was a bit different than getting mud out! Maybe some of you entomologists out there can ID these critters.

Are those some kind of larva? They look like they would make a nice panfish bait...

I heard it's pretty fast if you use velcro.
What I really want to know is what kind of hay field has that kind of bug? I've never seen such a thing baled, though I do see the odd grasshopper or beetle. I hate to pay extra for maggots.

It was just plain 'ol Pennsylvania hay, not sure what kind, though.
I grew up playing in these hay fields, and never saw such critters, but then again I never played in these fields at 3AM, which is when I collected these guys. Maybe they only come out at night!
I probably traveled a grand total of about 1/4 mile through the hood-tall hay to get this many, but again, most of them had already fallen off when I took this picture.

Must be left over from "Fear Factor" on location. Why don't you gather up 6 contestants and tell them they have 3 minutes to "clean them off your hood and engine, but they must use only their mouths!"
