When towing, is it okay to use 4th gear? It doesn't seem to be an overdrive like other vehicles so it seems okay to use but I was just wondering. Keep in mind I'm only pulling a couple waverunners right now.
Thanks,
Lynden

I think it's cool to use it; I think they just want you to stay in third to keep the transmission for shifting in and out of fourth to much. But once you get up to speed and start cruising, I don't think it's a big issue. I've towed my boat (alot heavier than ywo waverunners) in fourth before with no probs.
What do you have against using third?

Got nothing against third, I've just got places to go and people to see, can't screw around doing 50 mph... kidding. I was just wondering if I'll burn my tranni using 4th. Thanks.

I use 4th to tow all of the time. My Suburban (1995) says to specifically not use OD (4th) when towing, but I have never seen anything in the Disco manual that says that. As much other detail info that they put in the manual in regards to towing, if using 4th was a problem, it would be in there.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I don't have an owner's manual, the guy I bought it from lost it???
