My '99 DSII is going to be taking me for a 1700 mile trip in early November. The factory tires have almost 35,000 miles on them. The two passenger side tires have a staggered, uneven tread wear to them on the inside and outside edges. Is this dangerous? There is 6mm of tread left on them. I bought the truck with 30,000 miles on it. How often should I have my tires rotated? Thanks!

Sounds like you could be running too low air pressure on the passenger side tires -- have you checked it lately?
All tires now have tread wear indicators -- a slightly raised line of rubber running across the face of the tire "below" the tread. If your tread is even with that indicator they need replacing.
I rotate mine every 3k miles with oil changes --- seems like dealer says every 5k or 7.5k?

I've been keeping up on the pressures since I bought the truck...no telling what the last guy did. I'll check those indicators you mentioned. Thanks for the reply.
