Can anybody give me a quick guide to tell the difference between brush guards for D1 or a D2? A guy at a junk yard near me has a brush guard that he knows came off a Discovery, but he doesn't know what year it was. Just looking at it and doing a quick measurement, it appears to fit my truck, but I cannot be sure without buying it, and trying to install it to see what happens?
I am completely unfamiliar with D2s so the rule of thumb may be something as easy as the mounting bolts being horizontally in line instead of vertically aligned?
Any guidelines guys?

Thanks in advance!

Jarrod, depending on how much he is selling it for, it may be worth your while to buy it, try it on and if it doesn't work out, re-sell it. Maybe ebay.......

Those were my thoughts too, but it would STILL be nice to know ahead of time. It's like having a potential new toy for Christmas, but not knowing if it will work yet!

I just went through this. Bought a OEM brush bar off ebay. I have a DII - the hole mounts are horizontal. You have to buy extra mounting brackets that attach to the frame where the bumper attaches - at the dealer they were $57.00. At the bottom of the brackets you attach the brush bar.

The brush bar mount holes for the DI are vertical and I am not 100% sure but it doesn't look like you need anything else.

So if I am understanding what you said correctly, any brush guard will fit a D1, but not any brush guard will fit a D2 without having mounting brackets also? If I understand that right, I should be able to mount this grill guard directly to my D1.

Thanks for the feedback!

No, DI has a specific brush guard and the DII has a specific brush guard - they are not interchangable. From what I have seen, although never actually installed, the DI doesn't need the mounting brackets. Search the strings here someone had a picture of a mounted brush guard on a DI.
