Just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem:
My truck will start fine if it has been sitting over night. If it's been running and shut off for over 20 min it's a hard start. The starter turns over for an extended period of time before ignition. I've had it looked at several times. Parts replaced so far are the fuel pump and idle sensor, plus a tune up and some fuel line. No one has been able to find a real problem. Thanks for any help.

My truck was doing the same thing. I traced it to be a faulty fuel temperature sensor. It was about $86.00 from Atlantic British. After I put the new one in, I've had no problems since. Hope that helps!

Jon,
Thanks for your response. Would your truck be difficult to start anytime the engine was warm, or only after sitting for 20 min or so? Mine will start fine within 20 min of running it, but anytime longer than that and it is hard starting. I called AB and the sales person didn't think that a fuel temp sensor would help since mine will start fine if I re-start within 20 min. He said that if the sensor was bad that anytime the engine was warm it would be difficult to start. If your symptoms were identical to mine I'll have to purchase the part. Thanks again for your help.

If you check the test for temp sensors, you will find the ohms they should read at temp x. Check you sensor with a DVM for correct. If suspicious of it, disconnect, and fit a resistor (?~200ohm=90C ?) across the connector, and see it it helps. Also check the main engine temp sensor same way. One LR EFI book suggests carry such a resistor to jump main sensor lead so sensor failure wont make it run full rich all the time - remove to start cold, then fit when warm. Is yours running rich and sooty when it does start hot? Try also turn on ign until you hear fuel pump relay drop, turn off. Repeat 5 times or so. If it starts now easily, there is a problem with the fuel pump relay, or the lead from starter to pump.
