My steering is starting to get a bit stiff so I figure it is time to add steering fluid - any recommendations?
How about for a new wiper blade?
And brake pad recs?
Thanks~!

whatever there is in the store that has "stops leaks" saying on it.
brake pads? don't get semi-metallic crap.

Jay - stop at the Salvo auto parts that is right down the road from your stand on York Rd - all kinds of power steering stuff - stop leak and otherwise there
Peter is right on about the brake pads - get organic if you can - Beck Arnley (brand) are pretty good and not expensive.

On my 98 D1, the owner's manual actually calls for ATF in the power steering reservoir. I don't know if this is the case for all years though, though. Is it? The "stop leak" is probably a good idea, though.

Power Steering Fluid causes your power steering pump (seals) to leak like a seive. Stick with the ATF fluid recommended by the manual.
Thanks,
Mike B.

Sorry - you're all right - had a brain cramp - ATF is the right stuff. If it is still leaking - not sure if that stop leak stuff is compatible with ATF (?)

Bill,
thanks for the reference to a brand for regular brake pads. Do you know who sells them? I am getting frustrated with local parts stores.

Peter - I have gotten mine from Brakeco.com
The part number for the rears is 082-1525. Can't find the front pad number right now - sorry

I had the PS res go bad in my 95 and replaced it and the fluid, but didn't read the manual, so I put power steering fluid in it. Realized my mistake and took it to the dealer to have them change it (didn't want to deal at the time) they said PS fluid is fine and didn't replace it...for what it's worth.

Bill,
I had mixed response from Brakeco.com. They could not get the part numbers that you gave me, but did reference other BA p/n's for the D1. Unfortunately they could not get organic.
I bagged the whole thing and went for Lockheed thru Europarts. Nice pads - organic, antisqueel rubber backing, chamferred @ both ends, complete with new pins and springs and about the same price as Brakco.com.
