whats the benefit to buying $$$ NATO's over the stock spare wheel... i was down at the local wrecking yard and saw a couple of spares on some rolled Discos, and thought heck... i could get some New/never used Michelins for my street wheels and then buy some Dunlops(or whatever) for the steel wheels as my "off road tires... does this make sense... will they hold up? are there other brands of steel wheels other then NATO's taht are good?
THANKS
KEN

I have the American Racing steel wheels from Gulf Coast Rovers. Paid about $61.00 each for them. I've had them over 6 months and no problems.
Thanks,
Mike B.

ken, if you can indeed get the spare wheels for cheap, that's the way to go.
they have the inner bead lip like the alloys.
this is what they look like when powdercoated black:

I've got one - with the unused OEM tire.
Little rust in spots since it's been sitting out for 6 years - but if your gonna paint it or powder it, no big deal.
$50 - you ship.
