Disco newbie here. I just purchased a used '95 and I am thrilled with this new vehicle. My work car is a Sable so you can understand why I needed something else for fun. Not being mechanically inclined, I've let the dealer in Columbus get me caught up any holes in the service history. I figured replacing the chewed up mud flaps would be a job I could handle. NOPE! Are those rivets holding the flaps in place? What's the easiest way to romove them? I suppose I'll need a special tool to attached the new ones? Boy, have I got alot to learn!

Colombus, (enter state here)?
drill them out and use bolts.
some say that there are magical powers in the LR mudflaps...

much harder to put new flaps on than new shocks thats for sure. took me about the same amount of time. then again i watched the 'love cruise' tonight too. oh the horror.

Take a grinder and grind the heads off the rivets. They just push out after that...

i am still afraid to go to sleep at this moment, because i think i may have nightmares of her.
she would hurt you........and bad. i wish it was lighter out when this stuff was on......that way i would be outside tinkering with my truck, rather than watching this crap. i guess i could just turn the channel, but it is pretty funny stuff. kinda like Road Rules, but there're on a boat and in their 20's and 30's. it all rots the brain the same way.

danno, i did the same thing.
watched the love boat and voted off teh sea sick girl like the rest of the gang, amazing how nice the silicon girl brcame at the end,,, the previews show an alter ego.
then switched to the lawyer show, to see the tit's scene about 30 seconds later, i still dont know why that hit home with her. though i did get the point (dont laugh if your a stenographer)

Tom: Remove the mudflap AND bracket that is bolted to the underside of the body - then you can drill or sawzall the rivets off on your workbench instead of underneath the truck. When you put the new flaps on, go down to the hardware store for nuts, bolts, washers, and lockwashers instead of trying to use the rivets that come with them.

land rover mud flaps - the're magically delicious! preffered by more lepricons (sp?) than any other english suv mud flap!

Okay, I have a question. How do you get the bracket holding the flaps off? I pulled my running boards off and was tired of the truck looking like a mall crawler so I just hacked the mudflaps off w/ a sharp knife. I now would like to get rid of the useless bracket that sits there. How do I do it?
Thanks,
Lynden
PS- I watched that damned show too. That girl is pretty big for being an aerobics instructor or whatever she is. I think she needed bigger balloons just to not look fat?!

i think i just left the brackets in place.
but wait, there's more love cruise tonight!!!
By gp (Garrett) on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 06:10 am: Edit |
just leave them on or if you really don't like them take a Dremel to them.
more love cruise?? can my day get even better?? apparently so.
the one dude that got booted to the island looks like Kenny G. and there is just way too much crying on this show already. that has to stop.

Danno- I'm in Ashland, Ohio.
Saw-z-all works well. Use care not to bump your fender!
Mud flap magic, eh? I'm leaving in 10 minutes for northern Wisconsin for some muskie fishing in my 'new' rig. Had to postpone my departure until I got the flaps installed. Couldn't leave the magic behind!
Thanks for the help, guys!

love cruise thread. please no.......i could not bear it. i will be poised in becoming some low life Fox lover. ok....i am a low life, but not a Fox TV lover. it's all bad except for Discovery (channel and truck) and OLN.
ps: maybe a horse thread for you and Kim. actually we (my ex and i) use to have a Bavarian Dutch Warmblood in Vermont.

Hey! I grew up in Westlake, went to St. Ignatius, Wittenberg and BGSU, learned the facts of life in the Metroparks until I was old enough to hang out in the Flats, and parents still live in Rocky River.

i actually live in Lakewood.
Do you remember the Wilderness shop? that was one reason that i moved up to Cleveland, until my father-in-law sold it a month after i got up here, but my job i moved up here with is cool, i work from home and not that much.

I love that place! Right up at the top of the hill coming out of the metroparks. I've been shopping there since I was little (with Mom & Dad). I remember getting excited to go see the birds. Bought a lot of rock climbing gear there, too, and the Asolo boots on my feet came from there. Good bars nearby called "Around the corner" & "Westend" (at least last time I was there).
By Danno on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 01:42 pm: Edit |
yep that was the place, that's how i got all my camping shit and my other outdoor gear.
around the corner is still there and hopping.
good news is that i still get a discount from the new owners, but it's not as good as getting shit for free.
