My 97 disco has 67k on it and I think the shocks are getting old. I have 245/75 tires and they are heavier than the stock tires. Any opinions?

What are the differences between them?
Will the bilstein be harsh on road?

I have installed Rancho 9000's and they're great, you can adjust then for a softer or firmer feel depending on your preference. Not to mention you can get them in different travel lengths if you want to do any off-roading. Just my two cents worth.

I've got Bilsteins with a set of King Medium duty coils (which only give about an inch of lift over stock). The ride is firm and very controlled on road and also firm and predictable off road - not uncomfortable but noticably firmer than stock. I would do this set up again.

I recently fitted a Bilstein steering damper - fantastic!! Got rid of an annoying front end shimmy. The gas pressure in the Bilstein seems to be the secret - far better than an oil damper.

What about the Warn Black Diamonds? I know they have been discontinued, but they are still available from some places. For some reason I really like the look of them, and they can be had for pretty good close-out prices. Anyone have any comments on them, either the XT's or the AT's? And what are the part numbers for a 95 Disco? Thanks.

Get the OME or OEM, NOT bilstien stabilizer. I will not explain why but please trust me. BIlstien makes nice shocks but the stabilizer has lead to problems.

The Bistien damper has been associated with slight pulls (ie it goes to one side). I belive this is due to the high gas pressure, but on the old board there was a big tiff over this. If you put it on and have no problem, great, you are lucky. If you are about to buy one, get the Old Man Emu or the woodhead. Since it is independent of the shocks you can mix brands no problem.

- I recently installed the Old Man EMU Steering Dampner (Stabliser). I noticed a nice difference in the way the steering wheel feels in my hand and the way it handles over big and small bumps.

When I removed the stock Woodhead steering stablizier and shocks, I was very pleasantly suprised. Their stuff is very well made (maybe not the best ride, but definately built for durability).
