Hi All!

Got a question on the Valve near the Evap Canister - this is the valve that is connected to the vacuum line from the manifold.

- We have the Check Engine light on. While checking connections under the hood, I noticed that this valve would click every half second. It seems to have started after the engine came up to temperature. Is this normal or is this a clue to the fault?
- The light came on after a sitting in traffic for a while, then getting on it pretty hard after that. I'll reset the computer tonight, then see if it comes on again.

I've sent out for the OBD-II reader, but I'm just trying to figure this out before that arrives.

Thanks!
Jason.

Never heard mine, but then never listened for it, either. This is from the factory shop manual: "the purge valve ... is controlled by the ECM which determines the most emission acceptable time at which purging should take place. This will normally be at engine speeds above idle and when the vehicle is in motion. A signal from the ECM to the purge valve operates the solenoid and opens the valve to pruge the canister of fuel vapor." That's all they say. Sorry I couldn't help more.
