Series 1 ...which yrs are the most reliable? should I look at 95s w/ the 3.9 or 96,97 4.0 (valve probs?) I have a 94 D90 that I am parting with. The rig will be used for long distance camping trips and off road fairly regularly.
regards,
Todd

From hanging out here and looking around myself. I have found 96 and newer are the best bet. I recently bought a 97 and despite issues with a terrible dealer I like mine alot. My inlaws have a 95 and have never had a problem. So more then anything you just have to be lucky.

They are as reliable as you want them to be. All of them need some looking after...

I have a 98 and have had no big problems with it. Knock on wood. But, I do agree with Kyle that you need to take care of them. Regular fluid changes, air filters, and other routine services. You also don't want to baby them or let it sit in the drive way. Drive it.
