95 Disco 65k miles:
When I come to a stop, the engine begins to stumble a bit. It isn't bad enough to stall the engine, but it is a bit unnerving. The engine idles while in gear at roughly 600rpm. It is slightly worse with the A/C on but turning it off does not improve the situation much. As soon as I apply the gas, the motor runs fine. My gas milage is no crappier than usual. Once up to speed, the truck runs fine. Plugs? wires? any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Brian

Stepper motor, aka IAC

See FAQ or tech and clean it.

Thanks Ron for the very quick response (2 min).
Cleaning the stepper motor should be a fun weekend project. Any particular cleaning prduct I should use? anything I should look for?
Thanks again.

Use a mild solvent spray carb cleaner should work if it is bad just don't let it sit on there too long. Also plugs, wires, rotor, and cap is not a bad idea if it has been 30k plus.

Note there was only a one minute time differential between your post and my first one :)

Hi...had the same issue on my 94....if the stepper motor does not fix it and your ignition system is otherwise good, you will need a pair of oxygen sensors. Natan Crabtree sells these for $89.50 each...OEM and VERY reasonable. Solved my problem immediately.

ok...
Looking for my stepper motor in my 95 disco, however, the listed picture does not provide sufficient detail for me to find the damn thing!
Therefore, where the hell is my stepper motor!! Left bank? etc...
Any help would be appreciated.

i think the stepper on the 95 (OBD-I)is at the back of the intake plenum and is 32mm in size.
