I'm new to this... I thought the Rover suspension philosophy is soft springs to better articulate the terrain..., but why is everyone changing to HD spring and most recommend them offroad? Is HD spring just for better on-road handling or for increased load? Or there're something I don't know?

art, very good point.
but the reason i like HD springs is mainly for load handling. and even with HD springs, you still get decent articulation.

That was the initial thought for the Rangie. To counter the soft springs under load, classic Rangies had a Boge mounted underneath... essentially a fat shock designed to come into play when under heavy loads.

The Disco a) doesn't have a Boge, and b) the back end is heavier than a classic Rangie.

So the Disco can use HD springs w/o severe reprocussions.

Thanks..., that make sense.

I believe I first heard about the concern from ranger rover people too. But many of them probably stick w/ the air suspension and don't bother w/ aftermarket springs anyway.
