Can you install a K&N air filter, that allows you to get rid of the air box completely? If so which model is it.?

check out the review of the Air Force One filter on this site. Just hope you don't live in an area where your off-roading involves lots of water like it does here on the East Coast!

Well, K&N makes a number of "universal" filters that fit over the end of pretty much any intake hose. They can stretch up to about 1/4-inch to custom fit an odd size, and they're secured with a band clamp. Just measure the diameter of the intake hose there in front of the MAF sensor, and check with an AutoZone or Advance Auto parts for a universal filter to fit that. You might want to make some sort of heat shield around it on the side facing the engine (you don't want to suck in any more hot air than necessary) and be careful not to go splashing through a lot of deep water. Otherwise, the un-silenced intake roar of the Rover V8 sounds great, and you should notice some improvement in highway performance and gas mileage(but that's about it). You shouldn't have a problem making something work for you.
