According to the article the suspension is modified BMW X5, that means Independent

There will also be an option of V6

and a cost of over $120,000

Guess I'll have to wait until they are a "Classic"

Oh don't cry.
You can always buy a nice used Disco 2.
It'll have all the "real truck" features you crave, and you won't have to sign over your offspring.
That's what I plan to do when my 98 has finally seen it's last days. :-(
