The bay area is hot today, it gets to 97F. I was driving from Marine to SF city and found out that the Temp of my truck is very high, it reach the red region. My truck is a new Disco2 and it is only 3 months old and less than 6Kmiles. So, I stop my truck and check the coolent, I found that the level is extremely low. So I pour in about 1.5L of bottle water in it and it barely reach the min level.

Can anyone tell me why is the coolent get so low? Hope it is not leaking. I will bring my truck in on Wed. and will ask them to check it out. Is there anything that I should mention to the service personnel and ask them to check it out specifically?

I have also discovered that there is a little tube come out from the coolent reservor. It is not connected to anywhere but just a tube with open end. I guess that's the tube for excess coolent. I was in Hollister a day ago. Would coolent come out from this tube when the truck is going steep downhill?

Thanks for your help.

A new Disco2 under warranty? Ask them to replace the radiator and the thermostat just to be sure . . :) I thought a bunch of D2s came with faulty radiators. Anyway, check for leaks in the morning before starting the engine, after warm up, when hot and running, and then after shut down. Different leaks will mainifest themselves at different times.

When was the last time you checked the coolant level?
