I am looking to replace stock 235 70 r16's. I would like to go an inch or so taller. What size would I want? Will an inch make the tire rub when you stuff it in the fender? I've heard some good things about the Pep Boys AT on this board. Jose, any ideas?

- 215/85-16 will fit with some fender trimming. They will be about an inch taller, and about a inch narrower.

- 245/70-16 will fit. 7mm taller, 10mm wider. Might have to adjust steering bumpstops. Limited tire availablity though

- 225/75-16 will fit with no trimming. 6mm taller, same width as 215/85-16.

- 245/75-16 might fit with a lot of trimming. Probably the largest tire you can run without a lift.

i put on 245/70/16 BFGoodrich TA KO's and they fit just fine..... no rubbing at all (gone to Hollister Hills 4 times and I haven't had any problems). But like Ryan said, there's limited availability of tire manufacturers and the BFG's are expensive (around $170 each).

ryan's hit it right on the nose. the figures vary slightly form mfg to mfg despite identical size markings. the pep boys futura dakotas? i checked them out and they looked ok - didn;t make me want to rush out and get them though. the mt's looked plenty beefy.

myself i am between bridgestone mt's (supposedly the most quiet mt's), pirelli scorpion mt's (just a few $$ more than pepboys house brand - actually almost the same price)and yokohama geolander at+2s (best rated a.t. at the tire rack)

Saw the GeolanderII on the Dicount Tire web site for 107.00 mounted.. seemed like a fair price. Also saw a Pathfinder Land Rover a/t Brand tire there as well.New, no info other than the price ($124.00).
