Hi All,
Quick question. I have one cat that sounds like it has broken up inside. This is the right-hand/passenger side cat for a 95 D1 (over 90k miles). When at idle, you can hear things knocking around in there, and when at throttling it just gets louder. I have grabbed ahold underneath and shaken it around, and can hear the pieces in there. Now, what can I do? I have seen people mention buying replacement cats from Summit Racing? Does anyone know the numbers off-hand? And should I be able to just take the cat to any local muffler shop, and have them cut out the old and weld in the new? Thanks for your help.

Hi Perrone,
Had seen your site already, but just wanted to make sure that I didn't need to replace anything else when replacing the cat? can just cut out and weld in the new one?

That's exactly what I did.

Take out the O2 sensors before you cut/weld

You will need to remove the head pipe. There is not enough room to weld the frame side. Pick up a set of gaskets for the manifold to head pipe joint . I used Catco #6005 in my 96 DI

I had to replace the converter, y pipe on my RR classic. Ended up getting one from http://www.discountconverter.com/, and saved a couple of hundred bucks over the RR approved. Midas installed it with no problems.
