Has anyone had a problem with paint "fogging" when the vehicle gets wet? I have heard about this problem before. When it rains or the Disco is washed, the areas where water sits becomes a milky white color (it should be Epson green). I understand moisture or condensation is getting between the clearcoat and the paint. It is worst near the driver door handle. I thought the paint jobs were better than this? Any thoughts out there?

I have had a similar problem with my 90 Westy. Luckily I avoided it on the Disco. The clear coat will get that milky white when it is very very thin. My camper got that way due to letting over-zealous car wash "detailers" repeatedly power buff out my car (I lived by the beach, and I thought the regular waxing would help fight corrosion). Within 5 years the clear coat was shot, and I started to see the primer along the edges and corners.
I switched to a high end detailer for the disco. He stated that the clear coat has to be babied when cleaning and detailing. He also said he reccommends the deep deatiling (removing trail pinstripes) only once a year or so, as he guesses the clear coat is only good for 4-6 really deep buffings. After that, it's respray time. If you are in the milky white zone, it's either time to see your spray shop, or hand paint that zebra stripe theme.

I foolishly emailed that pic to a bunch of my friends. Now everyone is like "you gotta go with the General Lee Disco!"

The milky white stuff goes away when the water dries. If I see the spray shop, will they spray clearcoat or repaint completely?

Two words: Comprehensive Insurance

If you get hail in your area. This is a great thing to have. Just wait for a really big hail storm to come, take the Disco out and drive in all possible directions, getting hail damage all over your rig. Then go back home and call your insurence provider(Statefarm is really gullable:)), and tell them you were coming home from a friends house and BAM, the hail got ya'. They'll then send in some insurence guy, he'll recommend a shop to take it to and 1 month later, you have a new paint job complements of your insurence company. I have a friend who did this...no problems at all. He had to pay $300(for a $3,500) paintjob though.

...oh yeah, don't get too excited. My friend who got his car re-painted actually was at a friends house when he heard the hail storm warning. He then tried to go home before it hits, but...you know. Hey, the story might work :)
