I have heard mixed reveiws of ARB bull bumpers. From what ive heard you either love 'em or hate 'em. I really like the SG stuff but the price is rediculous, when i can get an Arb for around $600. Any recommendations and/or experience with these products will be appreciated. What is the best for the money! Thanx

There is talk that Rovertym will be introducing a new bumper for the Discovery soon. It will be cheaper than $G and have an integrated skid plate. I have the ARB non-airbag winch bumper and not very happy with it. I feel that the mounting holes have too much play. I was out on a trail in the snow and slid into a tree causing the bumper to rotate backwards onto the hood. The upper mounts (used for CBs, hi-lift jack, etc.) caused the most damage, gouging the hood. The hood had to be replaced for a pretty penny.
To squelch any questions about how the bumper was mounted, it was mounted correctly according to the directions and verfied by other ARB owners.

Diesel,
What ever happened to those pictures you were going to post?
I'd like to see them...

some lady just ran into my arb bumper with her firebird. it tore the hell out of her fender , hood, and front bumper area.
it dulled the paint on my bumper. no damage.
it paid for itself right then and there.

Damn good news about RTE spending more and more time on R&D for new products. A front bumper with integrated skid plate, for less than $G? - I'll start saving immediately. Call me a poser if you want, but I bet it will look pretty damn cool, too. It should look way better than my re-weld on top of re-weld factory brush bar with crumpled bottom tubes and cheapo black touchup spraypaint...

Can't speak for the ARB on the Disco, but when the ARB on my Nissan got slammed, the lady who backed into me got her trunk and rear deck skinned off like a tin can. All I got was a long scuff on the powder coating.
It's also proven to be an excellent recovery and hi-lift jack point.

Around here (Canada, east coast) the ARB seems to get rusty within a year or so. My observation of a few friends with them.

Michel,
One thing I noticed is that the powdercoat can be skimpy in the *hard-to-reach* (spray) areas. I noticed a little surface rust when my ARB arrived new. If you check them out carefully, you can just clean them up with a dremmel and then POR-15 and top coat those spots. Then you'll be all set.
I'm in NJ, I need to move where they don't salt the roads....
