Has anyone here run from their battery directly to their stinger to weld in the field?

I've seen it done with about 3 or 4 optimas connected together. It wasn't pretty, just a last ditch effort to get a rustbucket jeep home.

my only welding experience was to tack-weld a retaining ring to an AMC-20 axleshaft with one Optima... it held together. But - if you do it,
disconnect everything else from the battery,
or you may fry some sensitive electronics.

I used three Optimas in series to lay on a very long bead. My trailing arm got bent at Fordyce Creek last year. Ended up using a concrete anchor cut to length and welded it solid the entire length on both sides. It's still holding together...a bit rusted of course. The Optimas held up fine.

Will a 110 volt, flux-cored, mig welder work like this?

I have one of these, and have always wondered about this. How does it work?
