I have an origional equipment wrap around guard on 96 disco and it is getting bubbles from rust under the paint.Does any one know what kind of paint that is? Read a post on this type of repair but do not remember where, any help would be appreciated.
This was installed when auto was purchased any shot that landrover would cover this?

Should be covered if your warranty hasn't expired....

Rick,
That's what I will do if/when I notice any of that...just scrape the rust off, sand down, and try to match it to Rustoleum spray paint.
Daniel
p.s. you might want to just put a big sheet of plastic behind the bar to keep the paint of the truck.

The brush guards have a plastic coating on them. Its pretty thick and I have seen quite a few with rust under the coating.

Coating is called plastisol. The brush guard is not worth recoating with anything other than el cheapo black spray paint, unless you have some extra duraliner sitting around. The other wrap-around "wing" on mine just cracked at the seams. I don't even think that my wife hit anything this time! Time for the fourth welding episode, or maybe time for the hacksaw to come off the shelf.

If your really zealous, you can remove it and take it to a local powder coating place. They'll end up burning and sandblasting the old powder coat to remove it. I had them re-powder coat with black for around 100 dollars. The old powder coat cracked along the seams and really pitted some of the metal around it, the new coat looks like its bonded to the metal better. I went with the powder coat because its more durable then a simple rattle-can paint, and I didn't want to deal with more rust as rocks and road debris start to wear down a cheaper finish over the years.

LOL - you should see mine. It's almost not worth a rattle-can of el cheapo paint It's really just there to hold up the hellas :)
