Carl,
Problem is, doesn't matter if you have a lift or not. These aren't leaf-sprung vehicles, so they behave differently.
With a coil sprung vehicle, even with a lift, when the tire is stuffed, you'll find that you need trimming if it's much bigger than a stock tire.
Nice thing, though, is that the trimming that's needed for a moderately larger tire is inside the wheelwell, not external.
Can't speak for a DII, but my Disco I, no lift, very minor trimming, is now running 245/75s. A DII should be able to handle a bit bigger before needing a lift or a trim, I think....

Correct me if I'm wrong but a tire's height is determind by the second number. the first is the width (i don't know what detemins it though) the second is the height which is the percent of the witdth of the tire and the third is the rim size. so a 265-75-16 has a side wall that is 75% as tall as it is wide wit a 16 inch center. I have a disco II w/out the ace package so I think it has 16 inch rims does anybody now the OEM tire size and what size tire I can put on w/out trimming. I go offroad a little bit but would be more concerned about rubbing if I hit a bump at high speeds. So I guess what I'm saying is I would be willing to put up with a little rubbing on the trail but not in my daily driving.

Ken,
The width number is in millimeters....
245 = 24.5cm = 9.65 inches
You've got the rest.... 75 = 75% of width...
On a 16" rim....
Hmmm..... mixing units, eh? LOL!!!
