It has come to my attention that all Disco ll are pre-wired for heated seats all you have to do is buy the switches and new face plate (about $60) I have the cold weather package so it doesn't pertain to me. if anybody has done this mod let me know how it turns out for you. The cold package is about 450-600 and comes with heated windshield, mirrors and seat. but I basicaly only use the seats on a regular bassis. Wish I had know this when buying my rover.

I have done the upgrade. If you remove the centre window switch panel you should notice 2 harnesses with plugs at the end of them lying loose. These should be the heated seats harness.
I managed to convince LR that it was an oversight at the factory and they gave me the switches and new panel at no cost. The heated seat switch has an integrated pilot light so you will no immediately if the heated seats are working (ignition must be on).

Good luck.

Not ALL DIIs have the heating elements in the seats. Duragrain, Cloth, and LE (leather/cloth combo) seats do NOT have the elements, unless the car was ordered from the UK with CCP. This is the most costly part of the heated seat process. All do have the harness (not costly). Most (but not all) leather seat DIIs have the elements in the seats. (Of course, we are dealing with LR, so nothing is 100% for sure.) We've even received a "CCP" fitted leather Discovery that had no elements in the seats. Go figure!
If you buy ANY DII, the side mirrors are heated. That is standard on ALL DIIs. They are activated when the rear window defroster is on.
The Cold Climate Package costs $500 (this is a set price), and is a factory installed option. It includes just two things: the heated front seats and the heated front windshield.

My mistake on the heated mirrors as I use the front and rear defrost at the same time I thought it was the front defrost that activated the mirrors. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I have a 00 DII with leather and am considering adding the switches. I read on another site that if you can see a yellow wire (heating elements)under the seats (runing the perimeter of the seat base) then the feature is there and all you have to do is connect the switches. Is this true?

I plan on ordering the parts next week.

Thanks---

how do you check to see if you have the elements. I have a 97SD with electric seats.

Question:

How do the heated mirrors work? Do they come on automatically when you switch on the heated windshield? Didn't see it in the handbook. Haven't had the opp to use mine yet as have only had it two months and cold weather not really hit yet.
