This stock springs on my 95 Disco have now seen 207,000 kms, the stock shocks about 105,000 kms. I want to upgrade and get a bit of lift as well. I'm considering OME springs & shocks. Any other suggestions, things you use that seem to work well? All suggestions are appreciated.

OME HD springs and Bilstein or OME shocks.
Bilsteins are firmer

Bilsteins break. Go with Edelbrock or OME shocks.

what kind of load does your car carry? do you have a lard burner or a petrol model? what tyre size are you planning to uprate to?

this would help in choosing the shock spring combo.

also need to know what you use your truck for ... i.e., moderate offroading, pulling a trailer, running from the law ...

Ryan -

i heard that before. Hasn't broken one out of 16 bilsteins i've ever had, and i've been working on it.

Running from the law while pulling a trailer off road with a huge load in back? :) Couldn't resist that one.

Yes Eric , thats more my speed as well. I cant understand pupose built machines. If the truck wont do everything I want it to do that bastard is getting a sign hung in the window. For all around purposes the OME is pretty hard to beat. It has its issues but everything does..

The Discovery is a V8. It has BFG All-terrian TA's - 235 70 16. It does a fair amount of highway driving - 700 kms week. It gets moderate off-road use through mud, rocks, etc. I'm able to break it without doing too extreme stuff :) Twice in the last year I've had a rear shock break and the coil come half out! I have put a Warn x9000 winch on the front with LR winch craddle so heavier springs are needed on the front. I have heard some good things about the Edelbrock. Hope this additional information helps.

I drive a Discovery 300Tdi and 235/85/16 Geolander MT. I would recommand OME HD Springs and Kuoni Shocks. I had a view shocks and the Kuoni are by far the best and they are adjustible.

I am using the RTE 2" firm springs with Rancho 9000 shocks/RTE upper shock mounts. I wasn't totally sold on the Rancho's but am starting to come around - just needed to play with the settings on the back shocks. I am running stock size AT/KO's and plan on getting a second set of larger MTR's tires when I install my gears in the spring. Overall, I am really pleased. I was able to keep everything else stock and drive it/enjoy it as is until I have the bank to do all the changes I want and I was able to do it myself one afternoon. I also suggest getting a set of Aedofab disconnects so you can maximize the lift by disconnecting the sway bars easily. The truck is used for pulling trailers, offroading, highway driving, and general mayhem off and on road.
