it seems every time i go in for something to be fixed - i come out with something else. now at low speeds and turning the wheel - there is a low hooting sound like a bird or owl somewhere in the car?!?

i know that these cars are supposed to make you think you are in nature - but this is getting quite silly.

steering fluid?

Could also be the steering dampner. Start the engine, but leave it in park. Get someone to turn the wheel from side to side while you try to accurately pinpoint the noise.

Best of luck,

If the noise is inside, it could be that the bearings in the steering column or the horn contacts need to be lubricated. This is a common problem. I had this fixed under warranty, so I don't know the specifics on how to fix the problem.

Thanks,
Mike B.

could be a bushing needing lube in the steering column.

i think it is either the brakes (vacuum booster system) or the steering fluid/ pump (what the dealer thinks)- not sure - it just goes hoot hoot hoot (i swear it does!) with foot off or on brake, as the car moves idle speed in gear. v.v.v. weird. like a freakin owl is in the motor compartment.

My 98 Disco does the same thing. It doesn't do it all the time and sometimes worse then others. The first 6 trips to the dealer they said that there was nothing wrong. On the last three trip they agreed that something was wrong and claimed they had fixed the problem. 1st trip grease the boot in the fire wall. 2nd trip replace the power steering lines. 3rd trip replace the power steering pump. The problem still is not fixed but luckily I'm still under warranty and we will try again.
