On my 97 Disco 1 the hood has always been very hard to open when you pull the release handle. Now it won't open at all. Any ideas on how to fix this or open my hood. Please advise? Thanks

See if you can pull the hood release cable through the grill. If you can get it open, you will then need to at least lube it and tighten it.

The D1's have an antitheft cage built around the hood release cable behind the grill - you can only remove that cage once the hood is open (BTDT - already replaced my cable).

Hopefully your cable is not broken - try squirting some lube anyway you can into the mechanism and work the cable slowly and try to get it to release.

New cable is only $13 - or if you're coming to the Middy, I'll bring my old cable which has been lubed up inside the sleeve and works fine again.

I know this is no help on getting your hood open right now, but I don't have any other great ideas.

When ours got stuck, I had my wife pull the t-handle lever while I leaned down on the hood above the latch.

After we got it open, I tore the assembly down, adjusted things, and it's fine now.
