Hey gang,
I am having a problem. 1995 disco. I am in the process of changing the spark plugs, wires, distributor and rotor. Well, when I went to pull off the old rotor, the rotor assembly? (what the rotor attaches to) pulled up about a 1/4 inch. Well I can not get it to reseat in the same place i don't think. So now the truck will turn over but will not start. Smell gas obviously because of flooding. Please help
THerefore, how do I get the rotor into the proper position.

Ok:
Now it starts but barely runs and will not rev over 2000rpm. I have checked to ensure I put the new plug wires correctly on the dist. and to the spark plugs. Man this is pissing me off. I still think the new rotor is not on correctly.]
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Brian

The advance mech on the distro might be stuck.

Have you checked your timing? Whats it read at idle?

You seem to have pulled the rotor shaft advance pins up out of their holes on the mechanical advance weights. This will screw up the timing some, and lose you all advance. You need to separate the rotor from the shaft, then remove the advance plate (3 screws on outer edge), lift it out (has a pin picking up the vac advance on the bottom). The triggering star thing will also have to come off -cirlcip probably. Now you should see the bottom of the rotor shaft, with 2 pins facing downwards - these should engage in holes in the 2 weights on the main shaft, which are restrained by small springs. It is usually just a bit of juggling to get them re-engaged. Dont stretch the spings, they are important. You need to get the pins in the CORRECT holes too, otherwise it will be firing 180Degrees out, and not run at all. Once you get in there it will be obvious what has happened, usually anyway, YMMV.
