I was told by my mechanic that my engine mounts on my 95 Disco need to be replaced. I was wondering if anyone has done them on their own before, and if I might be able to replace them on my own. Any input would be appreciated. Is this something I should have the dealer do?

Thanks,

Jeoffrey

Very carefully.

Find something solid. Maybe the mount bracket itself. The one I did was non standard (ie in the middle of no where)

Thanks, I will give it a go on my own. Has anyone replaced the tranny mount?

Yes. On the same truck, at the same time!

Before you lift the engine make sure you remove the nuts on the bottom of the tranny mounts. I learned this the hard way.

Loosen off ALL the 4 mounts - 2 front, 2 rear on Tfer. The rears are not hard, and RF is fair, LF can be a POS - I let the dealer do that one last time on a service. jack on the oil pan with a piece of wood/rubber cushion, one side of centre for the mount on that side. Have someone watch above for anything interfering with radiator, hoses, firewall etc, go slowly. When done, do some levering to get the whole engine/drivetrain level from side to side. Mine came back from a workshop once tippped over a few degrees.
