OK this may sound like a dumba** question, but I have a '98 S1 with alloys; how do I get the covers off of the lug nuts? The factory lug wrench does'nt fit and I can't get them off with my everpresent fingerpliers? Anyone??

The covers are designed to stay there. I believe the factory wrench is 1-1/16". It should fit unless the nut covers or the wrench flats are buggered up. You can try borrowing someone else's wrench too.

I have had the same problem. The tolerances are a bit too close for my liking. I used a hammer on the back of the lug wrench. Hammer it on, back off the nut, Hammer it out of the wrench. Repeat. To replace the nuts, spin nuts on with fingers so that they are pretty snug, Hammer wrench back on, tighten nut, hammer wrench off. This is a bit more tedious than I like, but it worked. Makes the nuts look like crap.

I am curious if there are replacement lugs available, something that looks nice but doesn't have the covers. Anyone?

-josh, doesn't give a crap what his lug nuts look like as long as they hold.

Josh,
Pre 92ish LR alloy lugs are coverless.

Ron

PS they are the ones I got off an 87 RR. only problem is they tarnish and look like crap from that.
