Hi!
I'm glad I found this site, hope someone can help. Recently bought a '94 Disco in mint condition (or so it appears..) One problem only - it tends to run hot - typically 3/4 on temp guage when doing 100km/h (60mph), and hotter at higher speeds/uphill. My perception is also that it radiates a lot of heat - I'm not suspect of the thermostat. Coolant level remains constant, no spots / bullbar / obstructions fitted.

Any known radiator efficiency problems? Other ideas?

thanks!

Any known radiator efficiency problems

Yes. They clog if not maintained. You can have it rodded and if that fails you can have it cored or have it replaced.

Cheers
Ron

it helps alot in desert driving

UHH MIKE I think the shipping to South Africa might be a little far for Nathan.

Might as well replace the thermostat -- it's only a $10 part and can make all the difference in the world.

Pull the radiator out. Take it to a radiator shop and let them "rod" it out. Cost me $65 at a local shop. They said it was very common with Rovers. No problems since. I'm located in Hot'lanta. Disclaimer: Check all hoses, thermostat, cap, tank, etc.

Thanks for everybody's input. I'll have the radiator cleaned out as soon as possible. If that does not help, I'll replace it.

regards
Jaco

Scott,

Can you give me the number or location of the shop? I'm in Atlanta as well.

Thanks,
Jinwoo

Check basic tuning first - retarded spark can do exactly this!!! Or running very lean, but loess likely. Stuck thermo a possibility - cheap and quick to fix.
